For an undergraduate introductory level course in the humanities.Humanities narrated in a story-telling approach. The Humanities Culture, Continuity & Change helps students see context and make connections across the humanities by tying together the entire cultural experience through a narrative storytelling approach. Written around Henry Sayre’s belief that students learn best by remembering stories rather than memorizing facts, it captures the voices that have shaped and influenced human thinking and creativity throughout our history.

The Humanities Culture Continuity Change 2 Henry M Sayre Books

The book came in good condition and it does the job.

However, I suggest dropping whatever class you're taking while you still can. This book is REALLY boring. I've read a lot of material for classes before (psychology, history, statistics) and I've encountered my fair share of boring/poorly organized/confusing/etc books. However, I hated reading this book. I thought that humanities and culture would be interesting, but this book was a complete snore.

The information is presented in a strange format - they vaguely describe a culture but throw in a bunch of oddly specific terms in Greek that are barely relevant. It can be hard to figure out what you need to know for the exam because random topics are often given a disproportionate amount of attention. Expect pages and pages dedicated to useless architectural terms.
Information seems to given at random and I have to reorganize my notes after taking them.

If you enjoy humanities, maybe you'll like this book. Just be sure to ask your professor how specific your knowledge of the material should be.

Passed my exam A -
Get this book it’s an eye opener
Excellent price and fast shipment. The cover is in pretty rough shape but the pages appear to all be there.
The Humanities book is in great condition and was received in great time. However, the professor is using the the 3rd edition which at the time I ordered the book I didn't know. Although it has a lot of the same information plus more than the 3rd edition, I found it hard to keep up in class and locate the answers for the quiz especially.
A nice rental if you are taking this course for college.
I did buy this knowing it was used. However, this book shouldnt have been resold whatsoever. The binding is completely broken and pages aren’t even held in the book anymore. Only upside is that from what it seems, all pages seem to be here.
I recently had to read this entire book for my Humanities course, and maybe it's just me and my definition of humanities, but I felt this book was less about multiple cultures and more about art history, specifically that of Western European and to some extent American. I think maybe one chapter was completely dedicated to the influence from Asia. Quite honestly I'm tired of learning things from a Western European point of view. Yes I am an Italian American, and even I am fed up with how much this perspective dominates our classrooms. To me Humanities is about multiple cultures and history from around the ENTIRE globe. The title of the book and the class shouldn't be so all encompassing if it's really going to leave out so much. I also didn't care to learn about history primarily through the perspective of art. Yes I appreciate art, but if I wanted to go into this kind of depth I would have taken an actual art history class. Maybe this sounds uncultured, but so be it. If you have to read this for your class, be prepared to memorize a bunch of crap about the history of painting and architecture (and a little bit of literature, but not much), because you will get only enough history to barely explain it's influence on the art, not a complete perspective to the happenings around the world.
Like many of you I purchased this book because it is required for a class. Although I probably wouldn't read it on my own time just for fun, I will say its an easy read. I hate when textbooks are wordy and complicated and you read several pages and realize you have no idea what its talking about. I found this one to be quite the opposite. It is by no means, dumbed down but it isnt so complicated that you don't want to read it. There are lots of images which is nice. I realize I sound like a little kid but im just making the point that for a textbook, its not that bad.
